Medium size. One of four surviving silver-plated dish covers (X2115, X2116, X2117 and X2660).
Such domed meat covers were made of silver, silver plate or tin and were particularly useful in households where the dining room was some distance from the kitchen. They appear in 19th century images of kitchens either hanging from hooks or stored on shelves.
