Finished drawings for a design for the house, 1759-1762 (5)

Only Adam's western lunette-shaped court was constructed in 1760, the other being the responsibility of Carr. Unfortunately Adam's curved wall was found to be structurally unsound in 1762, and it was replaced with more conventional straight walls.

Adam's design for the north front of the house is largely astylar (Adam volume 35/5), and the executed façade, which survives, was built to Carr's design with a hexastyle portico. Adam was permitted to construct his portico on the south front (Adam volume 35/6) but this was demolished by Sir Charles Barry in the 1840s.
