Purpose
[7] Finished drawing for a design for the house, 1759-1762
Aspect
Elevation of the garden (south) front of a house with a three-storey, nine-bay central block, with a hipped roof, aedicular and balustraded windows on the first storey, and the central three bays on the ground storey are slightly projecting, and support a Corinthian portico and pediment, and with a frieze of anthemia, and anthemia enclosed by scrolled hearts. The central block is flanked by two-storey, three-bay links, with flat roofs, and the upper register is recessed and behind an Ionic colonnade, and beyond the links are pavilions as in Adam volume 35/5, but the entire ground storey of the south front is rusticated
