Purpose
Record drawing for a ceiling for the drawing room, 1778, as executed (1)
Signed and dated
- 1778
Notes
The drawing room is located on the principal storey of Robert Adam’s central block, in the western half of the garden (south) front, between the dining room (later the music room) and the principal bedchamber. The drawing room ceiling was executed in accordance with Adam’s design and survives in situ. Further to this, Adam installed a chimneypiece, and a pair of satinwood sideboard tables, although there are no extant drawings for either of these designs.
