Purpose
Finished drawing for a ceiling for the back parlour, 1769, unexecuted (1)
Signed and dated
- 1769
Notes
The back parlour was the back room on the ground storey.
This ceiling design was not executed in the back parlour (ground storey), but rather in the back drawing room, the corresponding room on the storey above, where it remains in situ.
The executed ceiling in the back parlour does not follow any of Adam's surviving drawings for the house, and is more similar to that designed by Adam for Thomas Foley (SM Adam volume 11/90).
