Purpose
Design for a chimneypiece for the eating room, 1772, thought to have been executed (1)
Notes
The eating room was located on the parlour (ground) storey, in the north-west corner of the house, facing the square.
All of Adam's interior decorative schemes for 20 Soho Square are thought to have been executed, but this is speculative as it was largely redecorated during the nineteenth century. In the eating room, however, fragments of Adam's ceiling survived in situ until 1917, although there is no extant drawing for this design.
