Purpose
Alternative preliminary design and designs for a bridge, 1758-70, unexecuted (4)
Notes
These four drawings encompass three schemes for an unexecuted bridge. The first design makes use of only one arch, the second scheme is represented by both a rough preliminary design and a design for a three-arch bridge with sculpture-filled niches in the piers, and the third design also has three arches, but here the central arch is the largest. It is interesting to note, however, that all three schemes make use of the figure of Bacchus.
