Purpose
Preliminary design and record drawing for a carpet for the great dining room in an Etruscan style, presumed to have been executed, 1780 (2)
Notes
The great dining room was created in 1781. There is photographic evidence that the ceiling was executed (Adam volume 14/79), and as such it is presumed that the walls and chimneypiece were too. It is likely therefore that this carpet was also executed, although there is no evidence of this, and there was no sign of this interior decorative scheme in the early twentieth century when the house was demolished.
