Purpose
Finished drawing for the gallery, 1765-69, 3 walls as executed (1)
Notes
The gallery spans the entire length of the west front of the house, adjacent to the 2nd drawing room to the south, and the dining room to the north.
The eastern wall of niches was not executed - doubtless as Lascelles possessed no sculpture to fill them - though all three of the window walls (north, south and east walls) follow Adam's design. Harris notes that the executed scheme was still treated as a sculpture gallery, and is comparable with the gallery at Croome Court and the dining room at Syon.
