Purpose

Alternative finished drawings for the ceiling of the 2nd drawing room (now the cinnamon drawing room), 1765-1769 (5)

Notes

The ceiling was executed in accordance with Adam volume 11/167, but in 1852 the cove and central compartment were altered by Alfred Stevens.

The 2nd drawing room was formed from a corridor on the south front of the house between the 1st drawing room and the gallery, and was originally intended as a dining room, hence the inclusion of vines in Adam volumes 11/163, 11/164, 11/165 and 11/166 but on the completion of the dining room on the north front of the house this idea was abandoned.
