Purpose
Design for the soffit of the portico, 1767 (1)
Notes
The portico was added to Carr's south front by Adam, and according to Harris it would have been Adam's principal contribution to the exterior had Barry not removed it in the 1840s in favour of a formal terrace. The portico spanned the central five bays of the south front of the house, but it is not known if this design was executed.
