Curatorial note
Of sgabello form with shaped solid backs, circular depressions to seat and apron and front and back legs joined by a down-curving stretcher. Part of a set with XF53, XF54 and XF164.
These chairs are similar to those supplied by George Nix for Ham House, Surrey, between 1729 and 1734. Three are shown in the front hall in a watercolour of c.1834 and two were listed here in the 1837 Furniture and Fittings inventory.
