Curatorial note
One of a set of four with XF368, XF370 and XF371. In 1828 Soane placed these four convex mirrors over the circular holes which were previously in the corners of the Breakfast Room dome as shown in the watercolour by J. M. Gandy of 1825 (Vol. 82, 27) to create a complex series of ‘fish-eye’ reflections as shown in C. J. Richardson’s preparatory watercolour for the 1830 Description (Vol. 85A), presumably for the benefit of those seated at the central table. These mirrors have identical frames to those on other convex mirrors XF358–XV361 and XF234.
