Curatorial note
The roof truss shown in this model (formerly unidentified) appears in Soane’s drawings for the Law Courts, sheet no 53/4/67. The drawing is inscribed: One of the Trusses of the Court of King’s Bench as it appeared in Sept …183-.
The model could have been made for design purposes or, like the drawing, for record or study purposes after the building’s completion. The Court of the King’s Bench was finished by the beginning of 1826, for the first case was heard there on 31st January of that year.
