Curatorial note
Jesus and Mary sit side by side in armchairs, Mary with an open book resting on her lap. On the right Martha holds a sieve and points to the book. The simple room has spare classical detailing. Through an archway a woman can be seen busy before a kettle on a hearth, and through an open door beyond are several figures seated at a table. This is a run-of-the-mill panel with its uncertain perspective and stylised gestures and is typical of the average workshop output.
