Curatorial note

This portrait is after a painting by Gérard. Napoleon is shown in his coronation robes standing full-length in front of a throne, holding a staff and with an orb beside him. The border features repeat 'N' initials within crowned laurel wreaths. The title is framed by imperial symbols (the orb, crown &c.) above garlands held up by eagles.
