View of the East and North Fronts of the Bank of England
?1824
Watercolour on paper
Museum number: P124
Not on display
Curatorial note
Soane office, design for N and E fronts (north-east angle) of the Bank of England: perspective.
This seems likely to have been the work exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1824, No. 884 View of the Bank of England, from the N.E. Corner. It's size precludes it from having been exhibited framed at an earlier date but exhibition in 1824 would have then enabled it soon after to be hung in the new Picture Room Recess (built 1824-25).
