Curatorial note
This two handled unglazed (?) Roman vessel is thought to be Verulanium ware of the 1st or 2nd C AD. The Museum's 1837 AB inventory records that it was ‘discovered when digging for the Foundation of one of the Piers of London Bridge’. The draft AA version of the inventory says this was in 'abt. 1827 or 28’ but the Copy of the inventory inscribed ‘for the use of visitors’ says 1829.
