This glazed earthenware or stoneware vessel is of unknown origin and date. The earliest inventories of the Museum (1837) describe it as 'ancient'. An early twentieth century Curator, Walter Spiers, thought it was 'probably Chinese or Japanese'. It once had two handles attached to the top of the body.
