Curatorial note

This fragment is upside down as mounted in Soane's Museum; the face is carved with a vine stem, tendrils and leaves with a bird perched amongst them.
It is very similar to Soane fragment M727 and may come from the Emperor Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli (Villa Adriana).
