Curatorial note
In the 1837 AB inventory of Soane's collection this fragment is descrbied as of carved tracery is described as 'A Piece of Gothic Tracery. Wood'. It is identified in a later inventory as oak.
Vol. 82/124 dated 1836 shows a group of timber fragments of tracery, including this one, hanging on the north side of the Catacombs in the basement. This piece was rehung there as part of the reinstatement of the Catacombs completed in 2016.
