Curatorial note

The entry for this cast in the AB inventory of Soane's collection, 1837, reads: Fragment of cornice, now in the Farnese Gardens at Rome, (supposed to have been the Temple of Neptune), plaster. This may indicate that Soane knew this cast had been taken in Rome. The Farnese Gardens were on the Palatine Hill.
