Curatorial note

M353, M1047 and M1049 are three sections of third or fourth Century AD tessellated pavement, such as found in household interiors or small courtyard flooring. Perhaps from a Romano-British villa or London City finds, such as Soane may have come in contact with in the course of overseeing his architectural commissions. The three appear to have come from the same find; they were presumably framed by Soane.
