Curatorial note

This cast and two others (M11 and M41) from the same source are all taken from the Ara Albani altar, Roman 1st century -2nd century AD, in the collection of the Villa Albani, Inv. no. 685. M11 and this one are casts of the same altar relief; M41 is a cast of a different side of the same altar). Here Ceres, Goddess of agriculture, holds a sheaf of corn, whilst Neptune, the sea God, holds a trident and staff.
