Curatorial note

A Kendi is a drinking or pouring vessel which has a spout on the side but no handle. It could be drunk from directly using the spout, holding the pot around the neck. Such vessels were widely used across south-east Asia and probably provided a hygienic way for groups of people to drink water from a single vessel, pouring from the spout into their mouths.
