Curatorial note
The Soane Museum 'AB' inventory, 1837, records this item as 'Fragment of ancient Tile paving' and it seems that it was a pair with A55. It is unclear whether these two related to the surviving tiles from Chertsey Abbey which follow them in the inventory sequence (A56 and A57).
