The designs for furniture and fittings are the only evidence in the form of drawings of any work carried out by Soane for the Duke of Leeds' town house at 21 St James's Square.

The drawing is inscribed in two hands The office Day Book has an entry: 'The Duke of Leeds / Drawing finishings to door / into Dressing Room One Pair / Meyer' that is Frederick Meyer (1775-?), pupil April 1791-1796

The Soane office Day Book has an entry for 31 March 1795: 'The Duke of Leeds / Drawing finishings to door / into Dressing Room One Pair / Meyer' - that is Frederick Meyer (1775-?), pupil April 1791-1796.

The office Day Book for 8 August 1797 has the pupils Good, Jeans and Seward doing other work and it is not clear who made this drawing. Competently done perhaps by the cabinet maker?
