This office was intended for the six clerks associated with the Chancery Court, who employed a further 60 clerks for the administration of Lincoln's Inn. The Society of Lincoln's Inn only decided to include this building for the clerks in 1772. As such, only Adam and Taylor included their accommodation in their designs. Moreover, this helps to date various drawings which include the clerks' offices, showing that they cannot have been made as early as 1771.

Adam’s scheme for Lincoln’s Inn was not executed, and instead, Sir Robert Taylor’s designs were built in 1774-80. See scheme notes.
