Preliminary designs for a carpet for the drawing room, 1774; it is not known if this design was executed (2)

Adam’s carpet design for the glass drawing room at Northumberland House matches – but does not echo – his executed scheme for the ceiling. It is not known if the carpet design was executed, but if it was, it was discarded by the time photographs were taken prior to the demolition of the house in 1874.
