The present catalogue entry describes volumes I--X of the Soane set of the complete work, which were published separately as the 4th edition in 1754; see copy notes below for the other volumes. Each volume has an additional volume title-page listing the contents. The plates were drawn by Hubert Gravelot and engraved by George Vertue, R.W. Seale, W.H. Toms, J.-P. LeBas, E. Bowen, T. Kitchin, L.-P. Boitard and Gravelot himself. With publisher's advertisements at end of vols V, VI, and IX. The maps (dated 1738--1740), here bound separately, were also published separately in 1757 as Twelve maps of antient geography, drawn by the sieur Danville, ... and designed for the explanation of Mr. Rollin's Antient history ... copied from the originals, engraved for the illustration of the large edition of that work, printed at Paris in six volumes in quarto, with letterpress title-page and contents leaf.
