Catalogued from general title-page of vol. I. Each volume has a half-title reading 'Traduction Complette De Tacite. Tome ...'. A collected edition of the works of Tacitus with facing French translations by the Abbé de La Bletterie [Bléterie] (vol. I) and J.H. Dotteville (vols II--VII). The four parts were also available separately (see editor's advertisement to vol. IV). The first volume has an additional title-page dated 1776, reading 'Traduction De La Vie D'Agricola, Et Des Mœurs Des Germains, ...', and two editor's advertisements explaining the decision to replace La Bletterie's original translation of the first six books of the Annals (the reign of Tiberius) in vols II--III with a new translation after the original edition had sold out. Volumes IV--V, containing books XI--XVI of the Annals (reigns of Claudius and Nero) are from the 'Seconde Édition, Revue Et Corrigée', 1785--86; volumes VI--VII containing the Histories are from the 'Second Édition, Revue Et Corrigée', 1780. The four parts were also available separately (see editor's advertisement to vol. IV). The final [4] pp. of vol. I contain a 'Catalogue De Libres Nouveaux, Qui se trouvent à Paris, chez Moutard, ...'.

Binding C18th mottled 'catspaw' calf, gilt-panelled spines, red morocco spine-labels.
