'Mlle ******' has been identified as Jean Baptiste de Brilhac. Originally published in French in 1688. The source of Aphra Behn's novel of the same title (q.v. in vol. II of All the histories and novels..., 1751). Title-page woodcut device of a basket of tulips. The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek München has a copy of apparently the same sheets issued with the title-page reading 'Par Mll. ******' [sic] and the Amsterdam imprint of Henri Schelte under the woodcut device of a fox and the bee’s nest with motto 'Qværendo'.

Copy Notes Bound (1) with J. Donneau de Vise, L'apoticaire de qualité, Cologne, 1670 (q.v.), L'apparition de Mr Le Noble à l'auteur des Dialogues diaboliques, Turnhout, 1708 (q.v.) and J. Hacot, Anecdotes galantes, Frankfurt and Leipzig [i.e. Paris?], 1760 (q.v.).

Binding C18th yellow paper boards with (later?) paper spine, MS. spine-title in ink 'Nouvelles/ Agnes de Castro -/ Anecdotes galantes' and date '1708'.
