Half-title reads 'Seldeniana'. The 'table talk' of the lawyer and scholar John Selden was compiled in the 1640s by his amanuensis Richard Milward and first published posthumously in 1689. The contents are arranged alphabetically in short sections devoted mainly to issues of religion, morality, and politics. This edition reprints the edition of 1689 including the title-page having the sub-title: 'Being the Discourses of John Seldon, Esq.; or his Sence of Various Matters of Weight and high Consequence; Relating especially to Religion and State', and the dedication to the executors signed by Milward. The preface is by S.W. Singer; the stipple-engraved portrait is by T. Illman.
