First published Oxford: printed by R. Slatter, for B. Crosby, London, 1798. The title-leaf of the Soane copy is printed on different paper stock suggesting this may be a reissue of the sheets of the first edition. The plate engraved by G. Murray shows one of the friends beating the other with a stick. With five final leaves of publisher's advertisements. ESTC t73520.
Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting the half-title and ten pages of advertisements at the end.
Binding C19th half scarlet roan, blind double-ruled borders, gilt double-ruled spine, marbled-paper boards. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 1s. 3d., 22 December 1830. (Archives 7/15/8).
