Not published. Part 1 is a reprint of part of the same author's Runic odes of the Norse tongue, London, 1790. Part 2 has a half-title reading 'Prolusiones Lyricæ'. Mathias was widely known for his Pursuits of literature, first published in three parts between 1794 and 1796 respectively (1797 ed., q.v.), and other satires. ESTC t100559.

Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting the half-title. Inscribed on title-page in ink From the auth[or] (cropped). With a loosely inserted letter from the author dated Scotland Yard/ Whitehall/ June 4. 1807 presenting Soane with another copy of this book following Soane's request for it.

Binding C19th half green roan, blind double-rule borders, marbled-paper boards, gilt double-ruled and lettered spine. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 1s. 4d., 2 August 1830. (Spiers Box. Binding 51).
