Edition statement, supplement to title and volume numbers from half-titles. Robert Dodsley's influential compilation of the works of the leading poets of the day titled A collection of poems ... by several hands (q.v., 1782 ed.) was first published in three volumes in 1748, with a fourth added in 1755 and two more in 1758. It went through numerous subsequent editions with enlargements and corrections, and its popularity led to the publication of supplements such as the present collection edited by George Pearch, originally issued in two volumes in 1768 and later expanded to four volumes in 1770. Copy Notes Bound as vols VII--X of an eleven-volume set with A collection of poems in six volumes, by several hands, new ed., corrected, 1782 (q.v.) and A collection of the most esteemed pieces of poetry that have appeared for several years, 1767 (q.v.).

Binding Late C18th tree calf, gilt-tooled borders, gilt-ruled spines with sunburst motif, black morocco spine-labels for title and at foot of spine the editor's name, round onlaid black labels with volume numbers, blue sprinkled edges, marbled endpapers.
