Copy Notes Both copies bought from Ogle, Duncan & Co. per Joseph Moyes on 10 May 1822 for 12s. 10d.; Moyes was paid on 14 May. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.4.1; Spiers Box, Miscellaneous booksellers; Spiers Box, Purchases through personal friends).
Copy 1: Annotated in ink by Soane with extensive references in French front and back endpapers; some listed marginalia inscribed in ink on first page, marks of emphasis passim, some in addition to references on fly leaves. This copy shows signs of steady and repeated use.
Copy 2: 19.4 cm.

Binding Copy 1: Original C19th blue paper boards with greypaper spine and printed paper spine-label.
Copy 2: C19th calf, thick-thin gilt-ruled borders with small floral corner-pieces, thin-thick-thin gilt-ruled spine, black morocco spine-label.
