Perry's The royal standard English dictionary was first published in 1775. A prospectus announcing his New French and English pronouncing dictionary. In the press,and will be published in January next (and 'Printed for J. Murray; J. Stockdale; Scatchard and Whitaker; W. Richardson) was issued in 1792. He was 'lecturer in the Academy at Edinburgh' and is also referred to in the Biographical Dictionary of the Living Authors, 1816, as 'Master of the Academy at Kelso'.
