Volume II has the title-page in English, reading: The royal dictionary, French and English, and English and French: ... . Text is unpaginated. With the preface of the first London edition of 1699 and the notices of subsequent editions of 1729, 1748, and 1752. The Dissertation is signed 'D.D.'. The frontispiece portrait is engraved by E. Chereau. Boyer's Royal Dictionary was first published in 1699 and went through numerous editions and abridgments in London and abroad. ESTC t81518; Alston XII.661.

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink of the front free-endpaper John Soane / 1804. Bought from Thomas Boone for 12s. on 25 January 1804. (Archives 7/3/3). Soane already owned a copy of the 1756 edition, which he acquired in 1780 (q.v.).

Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt double-ruled spine, red morocco spine-label reading 'Boyer's Dictionary'. Two volumes bound in one.
