First edition. Half-title: Pliny's letters with observations. The volume II title-page omits 'And an Essay ... Lord Boyle.'. The illustrations are twenty-one large head- & tailpieces engraved by Jacob Bonneau after designs by Samuel Wale. Allegorical title-page vignette by J. Van der Gucht in both volumes; the tenth book has a special title-page with title vignette engraved by J. Wood. Contents and 'Explanation of the copper plates' at the end of each volume. ESTC t132377; Rothschild 1488.
