For the charlatanesque career of John Frost, who founded the Medico-Botanical Society of London in 1821, see the DNB. Frost's 1828 Oration is also in Soane's library (q.v.). Soane had been sent a prospectus of the Society (q.v.) with an invitation to join in July 1827 and received his certificate of membership dated 9th November 1827 in due course. (Archive V.D.6/2).

Binding Later C19th half morocco-grained brown cloth, grey paper boards, spine direct-lettered in gilt 'Orations & Addresses 1821--1836', numbered '54' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
