Britton was a founder member of the Wiltshire Society, formed in May 1817 in London with the stated purpose of helping to apprentice the children of deserving poor belonging to the county of Wiltshire who resided in London. See J. Britton, Autobiography (London 1850), vol. I, p. 302.

Copy Notes Inscribed in pencil To J. Soane Esr from J. Britton. Bound (12) in a collection of pamphlets and manuscripts.

Binding C19th half dark green roan, blind double-ruled borders, marbled-paper boards, gilt double-rule spine direct-lettered in gilt 'Brooksean Museum &c', later numbered '47' in a series of pamphlet volumes. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 2s. 6d. on 22 December 1830. (Archive 7/15/8).
