Boccaccio's last substantial work in Italian other than the Decameron, generally known by the title Il Corbaccio, was first printed in 1487. This edition has a dedication to Bernardin Merato by the Piacentine humanist Lodovico Domenichi dated 14 July 1545, the date of the first octavo edition of the work by Giolito de' Ferrari who also printed Domenichi's works. The first word of the title is within a decorative woodcut frame. Printer's woodcut device of a right-facing phoenix on a flaming amphora initialled G.G.F. and supported by two satyrs on title-page, and of a left-facing phoenix with the same initials on the final leaf; historiated and decorative initials.
