With a dedication to the 'Academici Travagliati' from Virginio Canani dated 1 August 1567. The Soane copy as described is a variant with a concluding verse epistle to Paolo Quaresima. The play was produced in Ferrara in May 1567 with music by Alfonso dalla Viola (see note on p. [150]). The first word of the title is within a decorative woodcut frame. Printer's woodcut device of a right-facing phoenix on a flaming amphora initialled G.G.F. and supported by two satyrs on title-page, and of a left-facing phoenix with the same initials on the final page; historiated and decorative initials.

Copy Notes Bound (2) after Boccaccio's Laberinto d'amore, 1563 (q.v.).

Binding C18th tree calf, gilt-tooled spine with chain ornament, red morocco spine-label reading 'Laberint Di Boccaccio'.
