First edition. Re-issued as Miscellany poems in 1697, with 'The Passion of Byblis'. The running title reads: 'Miscellany Poems, &c'. Pagination irregular between pp. 67 and 81. The final two leaves of the preliminaries contain an advertisement for The impartial critick, Dennis's first substantial work of literary criticism first published in the same year. Copy Notes Bought on Soane's behalf by W. Boone at the sale of the first part of the library of Soane's friend the newspaper editor James Perry, day 7, lot 1358 with Directions to a painter, for describing our naval business: in imitation of Mr. Waller [attributed to Andrew Marvell], 1667 (q.v.), for 2s. 6d. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.4.13; see also annotated copy of the R.H. Evans sale catalogue in the British Library).

Binding C17th mottled calf, blind triple-ruled borders with blind roll-tooling parallel to spine, gilt-tooled spine, red morocco spine-label.
