First London edition in Italian and English: 1734. This publication comprises only the libretto to the opera Artaserse, of which Metastasio was the author, translated and adapted by Arne from the Italian. There were two, possibly three editions in 1763 (one is speculatively dated by ESTC). This edition reads 'Forc'd at thy approach to part' at the bottom of p. 7; another edition (ESTC n30652) has 'Approach'. In square brackets at foot of imprint: Price one shilling. ESTC t56477

Copy Notes Bound (1) with The tailors, 1778 (q.v.).

Binding Late C18th sprinkled quarter sheep, blue paper boards, gilt-ruled spine, red morocco spine-label reading 'Plays'.
