Parallel English text with Latin translations of Matthew Prior's 'Solomon on the Vanity of the World', Book II, first published in Poems on several occasions, 1718 (q.v.), and Dryden's 'Alexander's Feast', first published in 1697. The parallel translations of the three books of Prior's poem and were first published in Oxford in three separate parts dated 1734, 1735 and 1736, when the translator was identified on the title-page as William Dobson of New College, Oxford. With 4-page subscribers' list at the end of the prelims. ESTC t160154; Foxon B45.
Copy Notes Front pastedown inscribed in ink No 30 with bookseller's code, and in pencil 2/6.
Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt double-ruled spine, spine-label lost.
