First published in 1791. Adams was mathematical instrument maker to George III. The editor, William Jones (1763--1831), optician, was joint proprietor with his brother, S. Jones, of the copyright of all Adams's publications. With a leaf advertising other works by the author preceding the table of contents (unnumbered prelim. pp. [3]--[4]). The plates are engraved by 'Jno. Lodge' after 'T. Milne'.

Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting the title-leaf of the 'Plates To The Geometrical And Graphical Essays'. With the bookplate of Thomas Noel Hill, 2nd Baron Berwick (1770--1832) for whom Soane made alterations of unknown nature at 13 Grosvenor Square in 1816. The book was part of lot 10 bought by Soane for 9s. at the Attingham Hall Sale of the effects of the 2nd Baron Berwick on 7 August 1827. The Soane Museum has four copies of auctioneer John Robins's catalogue of this sale, including one apparently marked up by Soane for the use of his agent (q.v.).

Binding C19th sprinkled calf, gilt roll-tool borders, gilt-tooled spines with sunbursts, red and blue morocco spine-labels.
