At head of imprint: Si trovano presso l'editore, presso Pietro e Giuseppe Vallardi e presso i Fratelli Bettalli. Plates II--V, VIII--X, XIII--XIV, XVI, XVIII, XX--XXII, and XXIV--XXIX are printed in bistre. The plates were the first accurate illustrations of Sanmicheli. Copy Notes Copy 1: The similarity of the bindings suggests that this may be the copy bought on 14 November 1826 from Priestley and Weale for £3 3s. together with a copy of Albertolli's Fregi trovati negli scavi del foro Trajano, 1824 (q.v.). (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.6.1).
Copy 2: 56.1 cm. The 'Frontespizio delle Tavole' is here bound as a general frontispiece. Soane bought his second copy of the work for £3 3s. from 'Weale's Catalogue' in 1830. (Priv. Corr. E.7.10; Spiers Box). In Priestley and Weale's Catalogue of books on architecture for 1831 (q.v.), the work is offered as item 535, '£2.2s, neat in cloth boards and lettered'.
