[Egyptian monuments in the British Museum. Prospectus. 1805?]
Under the patronage of His Majesty. Engravings with a descriptive account, in English and French, of Egyptian monuments, in the British Museum, collected by the Institute in Egypt, under the direction of Buonaparte, and surrendered to the British commander in chief, Lord Hutchinson, by General Menou.
[London]: C. Whittingham, printer, [1805?].
4 p. ; 21.2 cm. (8°)

A later, octavo edition of the prospectus with the addition of a list of subscribers on p. 4, possibly issued with the first number, the plates of which are all dated 1805. Anticipated in the earlier prospectus (q.v.) to be complete in 'Ten Divisions', the work is now to consist of 'about Twelve Numbers, at a Guinea each; the first to be published on the First of May, and the rest at short intervals ...'. The publisher's name in the list of subscription agents has been altered to read 'Messrs. Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, ...' and the bookseller Mr. Miller's address is now Albemarle Street. In the event, only five parts were published. Soane is not listed as a subscriber.

Copy Notes Tipped in at the front of a copy of the first four parts only (q.v.).

Reference Number 1596
